RJ Said, I'd read whsmith were in financial trouble, basically due to the supermarkets, who stock all the magazines, books dvd's, music etc but at a cheaper price. I would say whsmith do have a better selection of most of these items, my local supermarket generally only stock the latest top 10-50 of books or dvd's. But when you look at other items, waterstones etc beat smiths on books, hmv on music etc, I can see why whsmith could be in such problems. When I viewed their site, I noticed their prices were higher than the majority of online retailers like play. Then you have stationary, I am not so sure how much money can be made from it, but I do know staples etc have that market sown up. I really hope smiths survive these turbulent times, I have fond memories of the stores, and it would be a real shame to see my local stores close. But I think they really need to compete better on price to stand a chance against the competition. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
