Severn Trent are akin to a dictatorshipin my part of the world. They are the only water company who supplies the flow of water, therefore they can get away with bloody murder. Overall I've never had cause to criticise the water supplied to my residence, it's clean and appears to be fear of contamination and disease. But I have regularlyheard of horror stories when it comes to customer service and local breaks in pipes and sewage leaks. We are in dire needs of competition, so this company no longer has a monopoly on water supply.

Water is clean. Although there is no leewayfor a layman such as myself to test that conclusively. Severn Trent's major failing in my experience is it's customer services department. The response time is appalling, even when it comes to an emergency.

The trust placed in this company when it was turned from a public utility into a private monopoly was completely misplaced. They act without any consideration for the general public only for their balance sheet and their shareholders. They have taken advantage of this privileged position and the powers of these privatised utilities should be reduced and a proper compensation scheme be introduced with fixed amounts for the disruption they cause when carrying out repairs or laying new pipes or cables. Our business was virtually closed down for 3 months whilst this company blocked our only access to our business and refuse to pay out any compensation at all. They are a disgrace and should be subject to government reform.
