Somerfield were the only supermarkets based in my small rural town. So you had little choice to shop there or drive 15-25 miles to another town. Now that morrisons have just opened a new store in my town, I am not sure what this will signify for Somerfield. While they do not do a bad job, on price or their own brand foods, I have a feeling their will meet their match against the superior buying power of the biggest supermarket chains. Because it is sad to say, Morrisons do not only equal or beat Somerfield on price but also quality. Their store is also larger, providing more choice, a cleaner and more modern shop front, and it's hard to see Somerfield surviving. Hopefully they will, because we need all the jobs we can get in my small town.

The time is now 2205 I have just returned from my local Somerfield store at Pound Hill, Crawley, W. Sussex. Last Saturday I bought a single cream for 80p or 88p which should have lasted until the 06 August but was sour today. I took my car to buy petrol and something like £50 worth and a packet of ham. The first assistant was going to refund the price but could'nt do it he called a colleague over who also seemed to have difficulty doing it. I then agreed I would take another cream and said I would go and get it while they sorted it out. When i returned to the till they the demanded a receipt which I had already made clear I did'nt have. I have had similar thing recently with Tesco who immediately apologised and refunded me without receipt. Tesco is not far from me and I will not use this garage/store again unless yhou do something to put this matter right. I await your response wiith interest. Malcolm.

Could you please tell me if there is a offer for the lydney store as i love shopping at somerfields and i would be very sorry when it is gone but i feel sorry for the staff there as they dont know if they have jobs or not..
