  • Description - The Natwest has a history stretching back to 1651. The name of the bank has changed over the centuries, notable because two banks merged, originally the 'Westminster' bank (founded in the 1800's), and the National Provincial Bank (founded in the 1800's) joined in 1968. Since then the Natwest has been one of the UK's largest banks, with over three thousand branches, but in 2000 the bank was surprising bought by the smaller and more ambitious RBS.
