hud99 Said, They closed their store in Sheffield city centre in around the year 2000,
if my memory serves me correctly. The store changed into a TJ Hughes,
which is a shame. That store may have some bargains, but the general up
keep of it has gone down hill. The original House of Fraser store had
a nice cafe for a Saturday afternoon snack, and a wider selection of quality
products. They even had a pizza hut built into at the end of it's life,
but this was probably desperation rather a sound trading move. The only
house of fraser in Sheffield is based in Meadowhall. The store is extensive,
probably not as swanky as the debenhams down the corridor, but the staff
are friendly and provide good advice on finding the right size etc. I
think the store, even in Meadowhall is long overdue a make over, it;s
looking tired and dated. They could also do with stocking some more modern
brands you find at their competitors. I say this, because it would be
a real shame if this chain was totally removed from my area. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
