Dating back to 1987, when trading on the World Wide Web was not a part of the retail landscape, Dabs were founded by D.Atherton and B.Smith. As you have no doubt worked out, the word 'Dabs' was formed by using the initials of the cofounders. Eventually the business was one hundred percent owned by D.Atherton, long before the startling success of dabs.com.

Item - Dabs Wacom Intuos 3 graphic tablet

I read they were a computer retailer, whose service had earned them a cabinet full of prestigious awards.

Do not use dabs. I received my product with no problem but then realised that the graphic tablet had already been used and had scratches on it.

There is NO way to contact Dabs and there is also NO phone number. I have sent over 20 emails in the last 4 days simply requesting an exchange but I have not even had 1 single response from them.

You have been warned.

DABS refuse to talk to anyone by telephone. I moved house and changed my address on their website before placing a laptop order in January 2007. The 'next day despatch' didn't go for days, then when it was shipped I found out they used my old address. I can't contact them by telephone, their online chat service say its not their department and also accuse me of not updating the address myself, and the despatch department haven't responded to any of my 3 emails sent over the past 2 days. The courier can't change the address without DABS authority, they dont have a phone number for DABS either, and DABS are simply not responding. I have spent 6 hours during the past 2 days trying to resolve this, and have absolutely no idea whether the laptop has been delivered to the wrong address or not yet - it was due to be delivered there yesterday - and for all I know it may have been stolen by now. All DABS need is a TELEPHONE and a better attitude towards their customers. Any cost saving you make by buying from them is not worth the pain, because if you order from them you have to just hope nothing goes wrong - if it does you may end up where i am - up a creek without a paddle, and no way to make effective contact with them or get a response out of them. Do you enjoy stress and have the time to deal with this? I don't.

Wide range of products, prices are usually the cheapest around, and delivery is pretty quick. The site is still confusing, information is not clearly displayed and finding what you want is time consuming. Dabs did redesign it a few years ago, it was even more convoluted, but the improvements were mostly cosmetic, and overall the site is only slightly easier to navigate. I've always tended to buy computer components from dabs, like memory ram and hard disks. I've never fancied buying larger items like PC's or LCD TV's. For tech newbie's the site must be even harder to buy from, it pretty easy to pick the wrong component, because there is nothing in the way of help or advice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, but they be more successful if the site had a cleaner layout and guides for newbies.

I do not like their website very much, the search function results and general browsing is overally complicated looking.

This makes it hard to track down what you are looking for, and this is a shame because dabs have one of the most extensive range of IT products online in the UK and priced low.

Ordering has always been straight forward when I've eventually found what I'm looking for, and delivery has been good. Make sure the item your ordering is in stock, or you could be waiting many weeks.

I like the company and their extensive stock, I dislike the site layout and browsing.
